Medvedev visits Finland Dmitry Medvedev, president of Russia, begins a two-day visit to Finland. Mr Medvedev will hold talks with Tarja Halonen, his Finnish counterpart. Automobiles on show Auto Shanghai 2009, the biennial international automobile and manufacturing technology exhibition, begins in the Chinese city (until April 28). Pulitzer prizes announced This year's Pulitzer Prizes for journalism, letters, drama and music are to be announced in New York. The journalism categories will include online articles for the first time. Prizes will be presented in May. Product safety highlighted The European Commission is due to present in Brussels its 2008 Rapex Report on dangerous consumer products. These include toys, childcare articles and household appliances. Publishing marketplace The London Book Fair begins its three-day run, aiming to provide a global marketplace for the sale and distribution of content across print, audio, television, film and digital channels, as well as exploring innovations in publishing. Nuclear energy discussed An international ministerial conference on nuclear energy, organised by the International Atomic Energy Agency, is due to be held in Beijing (until April 22). Issues for discussion include nuclear technology, safety and its role in combating climate change. Anti-racism progress review The Durban Review Conference in Geneva (until April 24), organised by the United Nations, is to evaluate progress in combating racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance throughout the world. Roaming rules discussed The Roaming World Congress is a four-day conference in Barcelona for the telecommunications industry to discuss the impact of recent regulatory directives on voice roaming in the European Union. Latin music jamboree The Billboard Latin Music Conference and Awards begins its four-day run in Miami, bringing together more than 1,000 artists, executives, managers and sponsors to discuss the state of the industry. It culminates with the year's Billboard Latin Music Awards. Environmental awards The Goldman Environmental Prize ceremony, which awards $150,000 to individuals from each of the world's six inhabited continental regions, is held in San Francisco. Airport trading scrutinised The latest issues in airport trading and non-aviation revenues will be discussed at the ACI Europe Airport Trading Conference and Exhibition in Porto (until April 22). Spain hosts maritime show The Sinaval/Eurofishing exhibition, the trade show for the shipbuilding, maritime, port and fishing industries, takes place in Bilbao (until April 24). IT future explored The European Future Emerging Technologies Conference, which is organised by the European Commission, begins in Prague (until April 23). The focus will be on future information and communication technology. Dairy leaders meet The Third Global Dairy Congress, in Madrid, brings together leading executives from the dairy industry for a three-day conference. WEDNESDAY APRIL 22 Budget for Britain Alistair Darling, the UK chancellor of the exchequer, will announce his annual Budget to the House of Commons. Polling day in South Africa South Africa is holding national and provincial elections, its fourth free polls since the end of apartheid. Art for sale in Cologne The 43rd Art Cologne fair opens in the city (until April 26), with some 180 galleries from Germany and abroad presenting modern and contemporary art, including painting, sculpture and installations. The Pique project, funded by the European Union, will announce the results of a study of the liberalisation and privatisation of electricity, postal services, local public transport and health services in six European countries.
