Wall Street Shares Surge Nearly 3% on Day
Wall Street indexes closed higher for a second day on
Wednesday, something traders have not seen in more than two
weeks. The three major indexes closed up nearly 3 percent,
rising on a brighter outlook for banks on both sides of the
Atlantic. At the close, the Dow Jones industrial average
gained 2.8 percent. The Standard & Poor's 500-stock index and
the Nasdaq added 3.1 percent.
